Chad Bumphis is getting ready to take the next step in his football career. As the Mississippi State wide receiver prepares for Draft Day, he's out to impress as many teams as possible. Plenty of scouts and coaches are watching closely at practice for the East-West Shrine Game, and Bumphis thinks hes making a strong case for himself.

DeNesha Stallworth scored 25 points and No. 5 Kentucky moved to 17-1 for the best start in school history with a 100-47 rout of Mississippi State on Thursday night. Stallworth was 9 of 15 from the field for the Wildcats, who moved past the 1982-83 team which opened 16-1. Mississippi State’s hopes of extending both SEC and home-court win streaks were shot down. Literally, as Alabama went on an outside shooting streak of their own for a 75-43 runaway at Humphrey Coliseum.

Mississippi State got the lights turned out on them twice Wednesday night in Starkville. There was a power outage that kept Alabama from its normal pre-game shooting practice as the Crimson Tide had to work with emergency and television lights. But that was nothing compared to what happened to the Bulldogs in the last 20 minutes of the game.
