ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The University of New Mexico Nordic and Alpine ski teams each competed in separate invitationals today. The Alpine team was wrapping up the Alaska Anchorage Invitational, where the Lobos finished sixth and the Nordic team was completing the second day of the Seawolf Invitational, where the Lobos remain in fifth place. Alaska Anchorage InvitationalPoor racing conditions at the Alyeska Ski Resort continued to hamper the Alpine events. The men's and women's slalom races were run, but the conditions made things very challenging. The conditions didn't seem to affect Kate Williams, however, as the junior came through in a huge way after claiming a podium spot with a second-place finish. "It was tough conditions once again for the alpine races," head Alpine coach Tyler Shepherd said. "But, overall it turned out okay with Kate getting a great result."
