Smith Closes With 75 At NCAA Regionals

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Nevada senior Scott Smith finished the NCAA West Regional with a 75 on Saturday and tied for 66th at the event. lt;br />Smith, of Fallon, Nev., was three over par on Friday at The Farms Golf Club. The first-team All-WAC selection was one of 10 individuals competing in the 13-team regional. The tournament marked the end of Smith's tremendous collegiate career. lt;br />"It was a pretty emotional day for Scott but he can certainly hold his head held high after the phenomenal career he has had at Nevada," Wolf Pack coach Jacob Wilner said." lt;br />UCLA rallied to beat USC for the team title of the regional. UCLA's Patrick Cantlay won medalist honors. lt;br />Smith carded an opening round 80 and was tied for 64th after 18 holes of the three-round tournament.
