After three days and seven selections for the Cowboys the NFL Draft has ended. As everyone knows the Cowboys made their biggest selection on Thursday night when they traded up eight spots and selected cornerback Morris Claiborne from LSU. With Claiborne and Brandon Carr the Cowboys defense looks to be greatly improved from last season. As far as the other six selections for the Cowboys, well there has been some head scratching as to why the Cowboys went in the direction that they did. I’m in no way an expert in evaluating talent. I won’t even pretend that I am. Those professionals know what to look for and how to rate a player. I don’t have access to game film like the experts do and I don’t have any kind of rating system for all of these players. I’m just a fan who has my own opinions. I could write an article telling everyone what the experts are saying about the newest members of the Cowboys. How they are rated and their pros and the cons, but you can go to any of the NFL sites a...

Cowboys CB Carr excited about Claiborne

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr spent Thursday night watching the first round of the NFL Draft with a few of his teammates at Cowboys Stadium. Shortly after he began autographing memorabilia for fans, his night took a bit of a surprising turn when the Cowboys announced that they had traded their first and second round picks to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for the sixth overall...

Cowboys snag Claiborne, but at what cost?

It surely is never dull around here. It happens nearly every spring. The Dallas Cowboys have targeted and acquired the apple of their eyes by a move that is somewhere between courageous and reckless when they grabbed the best defensive player in the draft in a trade that cost them picks 14 and 45 to ascend to 6 and pick LSU corner Morris Claiborne. Claiborne is an exceptional talent...

The Cowboys welcome Morris Claiborne

Through all the mock drafts and all the interviews Cowboys fans were convinced that either Mark Barron, David DeCastro or even Michael Brockers would be selected in the first round. But as I sat watching the draft last night and also watching the Cowboys War Room on my laptop I noticed something strange happening as the draft approached the 6th overall pick in the first round. The...

Rob Ryan thrilled Claiborne joining Cowboys

IRVING , Texas -- Morris Claiborne became emotional seconds after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell called his name Thursday night. But the No. 6 overall pick took things to another level when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made his first phone call to the 5-11 cornerback from LSU. After speaking with Jones for about 15 seconds, which included the owner calling Claiborne "the best...

Clairborne admits he blew off Wonderlic

Defensive back Morris Claiborne, whom the Dallas Cowboys traded up to draft sixth overall, told the Dallas area media Friday that he blew off the Wonderlic test. "I mean, I looked on the test and wasn't nothing on the test that came with football, so I pretty much blew the test off," Claiborne said. The Wonderlic is a 50-question, 12-minute test that is used from...

Report: Cowboys shopping Mike Jenkins

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to trade veteran cornerback Mike Jenkins. Jenkins is going into the final year of his current contract and the Cowboys no longer have a need for him now that they drafted former LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne and they acquired Brandon Carr in free agency just over a month ago. Jenkins is good player...

Cowboys cornered the first round of draft

IRVING, Texas The Dallas Cowboys indicated they would be content to sit at No. 14 and draft the highest player on their board. But it turns out ownergeneral manager Jerry Jones woke up Thursday morning with an itchy finger. The Cowboys made the boldest move of the first round Thursday when they moved up eight spots to select LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne. They decided he was...

Claiborne OK with Sanders-like expectations

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Morris Claiborne looks forward to the chance of trying to do what cornerback Deion Sanders did for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys traded up eight spots and gave up a second-round pick to get Claiborne with the sixth overall pick in the NFL draft. Dallas owner Jerry Jones says the All-American from LSU is a difference-maker and the best cornerback prospect...

Cowboys top pick OK with Sanders-like expectations

Cowboys Grab Boise State DE Tyrone Crawford in the 3rd

Instead of taking a defensive tackle with the #14 pick on Thursday, the Cowboys traded up to grab a corner in Morris Claiborne. Several thought the Cowboys would find a way to get back into the second round by trading cornerback Mike Jenkins, but it didn’t happen. Instead, the Cowboys stayed put at #81 and took Boise State defensive end Tyrone Crawford. It was hardly a pick that...

Cowboys get DE Tyrone Crawford in 3rd round

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- The Dallas Cowboys have used their second draft pick on another defender, selecting defensive end Tyrone Crawford from Boise State. Dallas got Crawford with the 81st overall pick in the third round Friday. It was the Cowboys' only pick on the second night of the draft. The Cowboys selected LSU All-American cornerback Morris Claiborne with the No. 6 overall...

Cowboys Trade Came As A Big Shock To CB Morris Claiborne

Count Morris Claiborne as the most surprised person there was when the Dallas Cowboys made a bold move up the draft board to select the LSU cornerback with the sixth overall pick. The Cowboys started out at No. 14 and according to Claiborne they are one team that never talked to him. They’re also a club that sunk $50 million in Brandon Carr at the outset of free agency. “I was...

Cowboys Appear to Get Decent Value in Later Rounds

I am not going to write too many negative things about the Dallas Cowboys draft. One guy at ESPN did, but I won’t. National Football League Draft (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Many people I know thought highly of the trade to get Morris Claiborne, and I like the change in strategy. I really thought that Dallas would get the second-round pick back by dealing Mike Jenkins, but that...

Getting to know Stephon Gilmore

Photo credit to Jerry Lai / US Presswire The speculation is over. The Buffalo Bills draft choice on Thursday evening came and went without incident, without trades, and without much delay – ending with the selection of a player that they no doubt coveted in South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Even in the room that I was in to watch the draft – amongst friends and...
