The San Jose State Spartans fooled the Spartan fans into thinking this game would be "a walk in the park", by jumping out to a 20-0 lead, but the Idaho Vandals had other ideas. In the second half, the Spartans faded and lost another close one to Idaho, 32-29.
Exactly 45 years to the day after San Jose State faced the University of Idaho on November 5th, 1966, the two schools will meet again at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif. To mark the occasion, Inside Sparta provides a rare look back at that game in 1966 with a recently discovered reel of 16mm black & white film.
San Jose State jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead with the help of three Idaho turnovers, but 22 fourth quarter points turned the game for the Vandals, who went on to win 32-29 on Saturday at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif.
It looks like San Jose State will host most, if not all, of its official visits after the season ends. However, recruits are free to visit the campus unofficially at any time, and there were several in attendance at Spartan Stadium on Saturday. Inside Sparta spoke with one of them.
