Hard to believe it, but this coming February 17 His Airness, Michael Jordan, turns 50-years-old. To honor arguably the greatest NBA player of all-time Sports Illustrated is gracing the cover of next week’s issue with a photo of an in his prime Jordan from the 1988 dunk contest in front of a giant No. 50, which is significant because not only will it be MJ’s age as of this coming Sunday, but it will mark his 50th appearance on the cover of SI.
As the magazine itself put it, “Convenient How That Works.”
Inside the issue will be all 50 of the covers which Jordan has been featured on, as well as a list of 50 reasons why we’ll never forget him. I’m sure Sports Illustrated could have come up with more than 50 reasons why we’ll never forget the G.O.A.T., but that wouldn’t have been keeping with the whole 50 theme now would it?
