Welcome to the Monthly Sports Media Mailbag! Here are comments and emails from you, the readers, and (mostly) made up emails from your favorite sports media personalities. To contribute to the mailbag, either shoot me an email at, hit me up on Twitter, or leave a response in the comments section of any one of my columns. The last 72 hours have been pretty hectic in this space, so I decided to roll the monthly mailbag out a week early. But before I fire up some commentary, let’s take step back. Bruce Allen has provided end-to-end coverage, and I chimed in myself to answer a few pressing questions in the immediate aftermath. Report: Glenn Ordway to Be Replaced by Mike Salk on WEEI’s ‘The Big Show’

The Big Show is moving on without the Big O. Glenn Ordway is out as WEEI’s afternoon drive-time co-host, as first reported by The Boston Globe’s Chad Finn. Ordway confirmed the news himself at the start of Wednesday’s show, while promising listeners the most “honest” show he’s ever done. Mike Salk will reportedly take over for Ordway and is expected to co-host with Michael...

WEEI To Replace Glenn Ordway With ESPN’s Mike Salk

After more than two and a half decades with WEEI, Boston radio personality Glenn Ordway is reportedly out of a job at the station. News leaked out on Wednesday that the station is planning to replace Ordway, who currently hosts the afternoon drive program “The Big Show” with Michael Holley, with Mike Salk, a Boston native who has co-hosted a program on 710 ESPN in Seattle since...

An Appreciation of Glenn Ordway

I’ve had my issues with Glenn Ordway and his show over the years. It’s no secret. But there is another side, which needs to be told as well. Warning: I’m about to go into “old bastard” mode and reference things that I remember that happened before some current members of the Boston sports media were even born. I think I’ve also mentioned before that Ordway was the first...

Smackdown 02/15/13: Kill it With Fire Episode

Well, here we are. One more PPV to get through until the final stretch before WrassleMunia. Good times, good times. To be honest, the card looks pretty solid, and I expect Sunday will deliver a solid show. As for Smackdown, this probably will a whole bunch of clip packages and filler. Perhaps one or two tidbits of interest will slip through the cracks… Perhaps. But, that’s...
