The Tigers will be their opponent, and it looks as though the Phillies team is already picked. Halladay Ends Spring Training with Iffy Performance

It was better than terrible but far from keeping Phillies fans from holding their collective breath heading into the season. Roy Halladay allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings in the Phillies 7-2 spring finale victory over the Blue Jays. Whether the results showed it, Halladay, along with pitching coach Rich Dubee, said following the game that they were happy with the pitchers delivery...

What Should The Phillies Expect From John Lannan?

Categories: BREAKING NEWS News PhilliesTags: John LannanPhilliesWhen a pitcher goes four innings and surrenders 12 earned runs on 14 hits, there’s going to be plenty of questions surrounding that player. This is the case with John Lannan. The fifth starter in the Philadelphia Phillies’ rotation, Lannan was rocked Monday by the Toronto Blue Jays. Right from the beginning,...

30-1 MLB countdown previews: #6 Phillies

The Phillies finished the 2012 season with an 81-81 record, while going 35-24 in their last 59 games. The Phillies had ruled the NL East for the past couple season, winning the last five titles. But, 2012 was a disappointment as they went just 33-39 in games within the division. While the teams may be on different levels, the Phillies off season was very similar to that of the Boston...

Tigers send down closer candidate Bruce Rondon

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Bruce Rondon closer era will take a little longer to begin. The Detroit Tigers sent Rondon and Luis Marte to Triple-A Toledo Thursday morning before they headed to Kissimmee for their game with the Houston Astros. That mean that Darin Downs and Brayan Villarreal took the last two spots in the bullpen for the Tigers. Rondon pitched for the Tigers the last...

Raul Valdes Starts, Ryne Sandberg Manages, And Freddy Galvis Plays Left Field Against Rays

The Phillies were crushed yesterday, 13-4 at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. John Lannan was lit up for 12 earned runs on 14 hits through four innings in yesterday's ball game. Lannan's response to his horrific start? "Got my butt kicked, gotta move on." Great response and attitude....

Part 1 of this series focused on the pitching staff. Click here for more. Throughout 2012, the Tigers’ offense was a sputtering unit. One series they would respond like a well-oiled machine only to...

When a user approaches...

Strong offensive performances from Freddy Galvis and Domonic Brown today led the Phillies to a 10-1 victory of the Tampa Bay Rays in Clearwater. Brown continues to bat like an All-Star and new outfielder Galvis hit like an outfielder to give the Phillies a win. Brown just continues to rake...

Knowing the competition – Detroit Tigers

Cabrera has a career .356 batting average against the Yankees.   Threat Level: 10 The Tigers struggled most of last season and were benefitted by a poor September by the White Sox in route to winning the division, but they were not a fluke to end up in the World Series. They have reigning MVP and Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera, who just may be the game’s best hitter. Their...

Tigers' closer prospect struggles

By DANA WAKIJIFOXSportsDetroit.com LAKELAND, Fla. -- Tigers manager Jim Leyland is tired of talking about Bruce Rondon, even though Leyland knows he has to make a decision soon. Rondon probably can't do anything without feeling he's under a microscope these days. Pitching on the second of back-to-back days, Rondon allowed two runs on two hits, walked two and struck out...
