Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is making his first start of the season in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night. Ginobili replaces forward Tiago Splitter as the Spurs try starting with a smaller lineup against the Miami Heat. The series was tied 2-all heading into San Antonio's final home game. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made the switch despite Ginobili struggling through the worst playoffs of his career. He is averaging 7.5 points and shooting just 34 percent against Miami. Popovich acknowledged earlier this week that Ginobili is ''obviously not as confident as usual.'' The 35-year-old Ginobili's last start came in the 2012 Western Conference Finals.

Was the Ginobili who averaged 7.5 points per game and shot 34.5 percent and seemed like he was forcing everything to do what he used to be able to do was the Ginobili of now and the Ginobili the Spurs would have for the remainder of this series. Or would it be the Ginobili that...

Spurs Hold Momentum Going in to Game 6, But Heat Can’t Be Counted Out Yet

The San Antonio Spurs are dangerous enough when their combination of youth and experience allows them to employ a variety of offensive tactics against an opposing team like the Miami Heat. When their twice-waived free agent addition sets an NBA record for 3-pointers made and his 35-year-old counterpart drops a season-high 24 points with 10 assists, it’s all but inevitable that...
