Found May 11, 2012 on Steelers Depot:
The Pittsburgh Steelers released kicker Grant Ressel on Monday following the weekend rookie camp. Ressel had been signed as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri following the draft. The Steelers will certainly fill the roster spot with a kicker by next week as the first team OTA session gets under way. Veteran kicker Dave Rayner was brought in for a visit this past week and the Steelers also had put in a claim for kicker Jake Rogers following him being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Dallas Cowboys were awarded the waiver claim on Rogers instead. Incumbent Shaun Suisham is entering Read more [...]

Hoke Says It Could Take A Year Or Two For Ta’amu To Play In Steelers Scheme

Chris Hoke may have retired this offseason, but he stays active in the media and he joined 93.7 The Fan Thursday morning for an interview. Hoke, who backed up Casey Hampton at nose tackle for  the Pittsburgh Steelers for over a decade, was asked about fourth round draft pick Alameda Ta'amu. Hoke said, "I tell you what, he's going to be a good football player, I don...

Post Draft State Of The Steelers Running Backs

The 2012 draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers is a few weeks behind us now. I have already posted about the state of the offensive and defensive line positions following the draft and today we will look at the state of the running back depth chart following the draft. Rashard Mendenhall - Mendenhall is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is likely to start the 2012...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Projected 2012 Starting Lineups

Overall I am projecting six new starters for the Steelers next season. The offensive line was probably the toughest group to predict due to the uncertainty surrounding just about every spot but center Maurkice Puncey's. Apart from the offensive line, the main changes in the Steelers lineups will be the absences of Aaron Smith, James Farrior, and Hines Ward, who were all released...

Steelers Sign 7th Round Draft Pick Kelvin Beachum

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed yet another one of their draft picks today as it is being announced by the team that guard Kelvin Beachum, the last of their four seventh-round draft picks in the 2012 NFL Draft, has come to terms on a four-year contract worth an estimated $2.143 million. The base salaries for Beachum will be $390,000, $480,000, $570,000 and $660,000. The signing...

After The Draft Emmanuel Sanders Should No Longer Be A Returner

By Cian Fahey Back in February, Emmanuel Sanders revealed that he had been told he would be returning kicks and punts for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. Quite a lot has happened with the Steelers' roster since then which has given the Steelers a lot more flexibility with Sanders. Despite how good he may be in the role, ideally Sanders would not be needed as a returner...

Big Ben believes 49ers targeted him

Ben Roethlisberger said he "felt like there were some things going on, some extra” targeting of his bum ankle when the Steelers played the 49ers last season.

As Roethlisberger goes so do the Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger is the starting quarterback of a team that is known for stellar, top notch defense. With names such as Jack Lambert, Joe Greene, Franco Harris, James Harrison, Troy Polamalu the Steelers legacy has always been on the defensive side of the ball. Big Ben has changed this thinking because no one in the NFL, not named Peyton, is as crucial to his team's success...

The Terrible Podcast – Talking Free Agent Visits & Interview With Jonathan Dwyer Episode

Season 2, Episode 107 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I start off with a little house keeping as we recap the draft picks that have been signed thus far by the Pittsburgh Steelers and talk a little about the free agent visitors that were in town this week in the form of Matt Roth, Brandon Johnson and Dave Rayner. We also note the release of undrafted free agent kicker...

Steelers sign 7th round pick Kelvin Beachum

The Steelers are now almost done signing draft picks.  They signed 7th round pick Kelvin Beachum.  Beachum signed a 4 year deal.  Beachum is the 8th of nine draft picks to sign.  As soon as David DeCastro is signed the Steelers will be ready to head to camp.  They may sign another free agent somewhere a long the line but they are pretty much set. Beachum has a shot at making...

Draft Grades: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers take the smart, patient approach to the draft almost every year and it is one of the key reasons why they are perennial contenders. While other teams reach to fill needs, the Steelers sit back and wait for someone to fall into their lap. This year was no different as the Steelers landed David DeCastro, who will step into an immediate starting role and should...

Steelers sign OG Beachum

Guard Kelvin Beachum, a seventh-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, agreed to a four-year deal with the Steelers. Financial terms were not disclosed. Beachum started 52 games at left tackle during his career at SMU, and was named to the Lombardi Award and Outland Award watch lists as a senior.

Steelers players reaction to Todd Haley’s playbook shows how weak Arians playbook was

Todd Haley has handed out the Steelers new playbook.  From the reaction of the players it is nothing like the playbook Bruce Arians has put out in the past.  Ben Roethlisberger compared it to learning “Rosetta Stone”.  That is expected when a new coordinator comes in.  You get his playbook rather than the one you were using. There were two comments though that stood out to...

Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Seventh Round Selection OG Kelvin Beachum to a Four-Year Contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making quick work of signing their draft choices. Yesterday the team reached an agreement with their fourth seventh round selection SMU offensive tackle / offensive guard Kelvin Beachum. With his signing, the Steelers only have two member’s of their draft class left to sign, first round pick Stanford offensive guard David DeCastro and third round selection...
