The Giants Cove:
Last night the San Francisco Giants played their most recent "worse game of the 2013 season"-- this time a 16 inning 4-3 loss to the New York Mets.
Next time I get my hands on enough prescription anti-depressants I'll make myself publish a list of the top 20 nastiest Giant games of the first half of the 2013 season.
Anyway, I was watching episodes of "Shameless" on Showtime and occasionally checking in on the Mets game when I received an email from a friend. She forwarded an absolutely jaw-dropping interview just published by mercurynews.com's Tim Kawakami with Giants General Manager Brian Sabean.
Here is the link to Tim Kawakami's interview with Brian Sabean.
Sabean gives the most honest, direct and brutally realistic quotes and statements about a Giants team that I've ever read from him. For Sabean to be so transparently analytical about the depth of the Giants' slide this season is unprecedented, and it points to just how fa...

“I once ate a 12-pound steak this big” – Pablo Sandoval
by Nathan Mendelowitz
Pablo Sandoval: The man, the enigma, the gutted one.
Those are just a few ways and names to describe the Giants most interesting player on the roster. There are many reasons why Sandoval is the most interesting, unfortunately most of them are for all the wrong reasons.
When Pablo burst his way onto...
What do I think of the Giants signing Jeff Francoeur?
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see it having a major impact. I was wrong, after all, about Pat Burrell.
Francoeur has had a lot of bad years and only one good one over the last half-decade or so. He’s decent against left-handed pitching only. He’s got mediocre defense. I don’t see him catching the Giants magic...
Giants infielder Joaquin Arias was placed on the disabled list Monday following an appendectomy, according to Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News. Arias was diagnosed with appendicitis Sunday and had successful surgery late that night after playing a full game at shortstop against Los Angeles. Hitting sixth, Arias went 1 for 3 with a double off Dodgers’ ace Clayton Kershaw...
It didn't take long for Kensuke Tanaka to make a big impression during his MLB debut Tuesday night.
The San Francisco Giants leftfielder also left a little mark on the left field wall after robbing the New York Mets' Andrew Brown of hit in the second-inning with this spectacular catch.

July is not going any better than June for the San Francisco Giants. Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News tweeted Monday that infielder Joaquin Arias had been placed on the DL after undergoing an appendectomy on Sunday night. Nick Noonan has been called up from the minors to take his place.
Giants placed Joaquin Arias on disabled list with appendicitis and recalled...
The San Francisco Giants have optioned left-handed pitcher Mike Kickham to Triple-A Fresno. The young lefty did not make an appearance during his latest call up back on Tuesday. He rejoins Fresno’s rotation and should get another chance later in the summer to showcase his talents at the big league level.
The post San Francisco Giants Option Mike Kickham To Fresno appeared first...
Tim Lincecum was long gone. The few remaining players in the San
Francisco Giants' clubhouse sported ice wraps or bandages - or
both. Manager Bruce Bochy just rubbed his face and scratched his
head, searching for answers to the same questions that have plagued
his team for more than a month.
It’s come to this for the beleaguered Giants. Signing a player that not even the Kansas City Royals wanted.
The Giants and outfielder Jeff Francoeur agreed to a minor-league contract. The team hopes he can give the slumping outfield some kind of boost eventually. Easier said than done. He was DFA’ed by the Royals last month after hitting .208 with 3 homers and 13 RBI in 59 games...
What originally looked like an evenly-matched game escalated quickly as the San Francisco Giants fell once more to the New York Mets 10-6 on Tuesday night. Marlon Byrd knocked any hope of either extra-innings or a Giants win out of the park with a grand slam in the eighth inning.
Jeremy Affeldt, whose three earned runs scored on Byrd’s slam, was grasping at straws. “It stinks...

After another rough series over the weekend, the Giants continue to look for wins as the New York Mets come to AT&T Park on Monday Night.
First item of business: Joaquin Arias was placed on the 15-day disabled list after an emergency appendix removal. Nick Noonan was called up as replacement.
The All-Star Game was a popular topic on Monday night. Manager Bruce Bochy admitted...
