New Tennessee head football coach Butch Jones is quickly trying to gather together his coaching staff in Knoxville. One of the assistant coaches on his wish list is former Tennessee starting quarterback Tee Martin, the man who did what Peyton Manning couldn't do and lead the Vols to a national title.
"Martin, the fan-favorite quarterback of the 1998 national
championship team, has an offer from Jones to coach receivers, several
websites reported.
Martin just finished his first season coaching receivers at Southern
Cal. He would be a popular addition to the staff with UT fans."
Besides serving as an assistant coach, Martin's hire would do two things for Jones at Tennessee. One would be providing a huge connection to the glory deay of the Vols' during the 1990's. The other is to give Jones and the school a chance to punk USC HC Lane Kiffin, the man who dumped Tennessee after one season as HC to take his talents so Southern California. Both th...

NFL Comeback Player of the Year race: Peyton Manning versus Adrian Peterson
When is the last time people were this divided over a Comeback Player of the Year race? Usually this is a pretty cut and simple decision but Denver Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning and Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson have made this year’s Comeback Player of the Year award an actual race. It’s hard to remember when two names as big as Manning and Peterson...
Peyton Manning: Comeback Player of the Year?
Denver Bronco’s QB Peyton Manning is having a great 2012 season so far. As of this writing he has led the Broncos to the AFC West title and has completed 330 of 483, 3812 yards, and 30 touchdowns, with only 10 interceptions. While this kind of season was pretty ordinary during his days in Indianapolis, [...]
Oh Brother! The Manning Legacy
The landscape of professional sports has been dotted with numerous brother acts, some of whom have left indelible marks on their profession. Baseball saw the DiMaggios in the 1940s (hall-of-famer Joe, Dom and Vince), the Alous (Matty, Jesus and Felipe) in the ‘60s, the pitching brother combinations of the Niekros (hall-of-famer Phil and Joe), [...]
Tony Dungy Doesn’t Think Peyton Manning Could Ever Be NFL Coach Because of Quarterback’s Crazy Work Ethic
Peyton Manning‘s leadership could absolutely transition to coaching, right? Wrong.
You see, Manning is a perfectionist. And because of that, Tony Dungy — who coached Manning for seven seasons in Indianapolis — doesn’t think a coaching career is in the cards for the veteran quarterback.
“No, absolutely not, because he would expect that from everybody, and he doesn’t realize...
Brady is the Hands Down MVP
This shouldn't even be a debate anymore. Brady has to be the 2012 MVP. No it's not Adrian Peterson. No it's not Peyton Manning. It's TB12. Year in and year out Brady puts up numbers that have never been seen before or breaks some sort of monumental record. Well this year he's at it again. Here are some of his stats and ranks from coldhardfootballfacts.com (as...
2012 Fantasy Football’s Most Pleasant Surprises
Well, that’s all she wrote for me. I’ll take some regular season money for finishing second, but that doesn’t totally alleviate the sting of being bounced out of the first round of the playoffs. Shoulda, coulda, woulda… it’s all over for me.
Overall, it was a good season, but I wouldn’t have won a nickel if it wasn’t for the surprise play of a guy I picked up halfway...

The Best Award Race in the NFL: Comeback Player of the Year
For as long as I can remember, there has not been a comeback player of the year race like the one we are witnessing this year between Adrian Peterson and Peyton Manning. Before we get into what they’re doing on the field this year, let’s flashback to why they are being considered for comeback player of the year.

We go back to Christmas Eve of last season when the Vikings...

Bears, Bucs, Bengals and others leave fans scratching heads
The college football cliché is “every game is a playoff game.” That’s not exactly true in the NFL. Things happen. Atlanta lost to the Saints and Panthers and will still get the #1 seed. Patriots lost to the Cardinals (who have now lost 9 in a row) and followed that up losing to the Ravens, but should still get a playoff bye. But if you blow too many chances, especially at...
Week 14 NFL Power Rankings
Outside of maybe March Madness, this might be my favorite time of the year. The last three weeks of the NFL’s regular season. All the playoff and division races that lead to incredibly fierce games. We are also at the point where we have a pretty good idea of who are the elite teams, who are the playoff contenders and who are the pretenders.
This week taught us a lot about...
