The last day of training camp 2012 for the Steelers was more than just the final day of workouts sequestered at St. Vincent College, as both Casey Hampton and Rashard Mendenhall came off the PUP list. The tweets immediately started flying when the news was released by the teams website this afternoon and with it came the inevitable “are they are ready to play yet? ” and “can’t wait to see them back on the field” types of feelings coming out from Steeler Nation. As good as it is hear those names being called, it’s equally puzzling on the status of Jason Worilds.
As far as Mendenhall and Hampton go, word to the wise, guard your optimism of both players. Coming off the PUP is not a sign that they are ready to play yet. Neither will play on Sunday night against the Colts and neither is likely to play in any of the remaining preseason games. In fact, it would be more of a surprise if one or both played in the season opener against the Broncos.
As GM Kevin Colbert pointed out and reporte...

Jason Worilds still hasn’t participated in training camp after having writst surgery. Worilds himself isn’t sure why he hasn’t been allowed to return to practice yet which raises some big questions as SteelersDepot raises here. So what’s really going on with Worilds?

Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert was on 93.7 The Fan today to talk about the decision to remove running back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list on Friday.
Colbert was asked why the decision was made today to remove the Steelers former first round draft pick today from the PUP list.
"As he continued to work with the trainers and the strength staff, he...
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds continues to be a huge mystery as to what his availability will be to start the season. Because of his offseason wrist surgery, and failure to be able to practice during any of the offseason programs, I was not terribly surprised that he started training camp off on the Active PUP list. What I do find a bit surprising, though,...
The removal of running back Rashard Mendenhall from the Active PUP list on Friday presents not only questions about when he will actually will be able to contribute, but also what effect it will have on the Pittsburgh Steelers final 53 man roster as well.
Now that Mendenhall has been removed from the PUP list, he can't go back on it, so that means he will be on the roster whether...
I wrote earlier today about the mystery that surrounds Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds and wondered if that mystery would get any clarity any time soon. Thanks now to Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review this afternoon, we have a little more information concerning the Steelers third year linebacker.
Robinson reported via Twitter today that Steelers...
The prevailing sentiment around Steeler Nation since the Pittsburgh Steelers activated running back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list on Friday is that second year running back Baron Batch is now on the outside of the bubble looking in and pretty much destined to be a member of the practice squad, assuming he is not picked up by another team.
What most people seem to be basing...
Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall and nose tackle Casey Hampton were activated from the physically unable to perform list. Mendenhall underwent knee surgery in January after being injured in the regular-season finale. While he can resume practicing, Mendenhall has been expected to miss about the first six weeks of the regular season. However, being activated from the PUP...
It came as a surprise to many, as the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have activated Running Back Rashard Mendenhall from it’s Phisically-unable-to-Perform (PUP) list today.
Early in the offseason it was thought that the team would be without the back for the majority of the season, if not all of it.
Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL in Pittsburgh’s Season Finale against...
The Steelers must be getting desperate for RB depth as they have surprisingly activated Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list. Mendenhall suffered the injury in week 16 last season and his expected absence had Isaac Redman climbing draft boards. Redman suffered a groin injury in training camp that was labeled as minor but regardless his fantasy draft stock takes a hit with Mendenhall...
The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Indianaplos Colts tonight in their second preseason game of the 2012 season at Heinz Field and you can watch the game live on NBC. Teams are not required to turn in a full official inactive list during the preseason, but below is the list of players that are being reported as not playing tonight because of injuries.
We will update this list...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, even though the Pittsburgh Steelers just activated runnning back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list, he’s not expected to be ready for their season opener. He might even be out for the entire month of September.
Even though he is off PUP, Steelers’ Rashard Mendenhall is not expected to be ready to play regular-season opener, could miss...
In a surprising move the Steelers have activated Rashard Mendenhall off the PUP list. The only reason they would do this is if they believe Mendenhall can contribute before week 6 and that is bad news for the fantasy stock of Isaac Redman. This may be a reflection of the disappointing performance and injury issues from Redman so far.
I’m back just in time to f*ck things up Juan…
So first Isaac Redman goes down with a hip injury. Might not be serious, but considering he has never carried the load in his NFL career has me worried. Then came the news today that Rashard Mendenhall came off the PUP which means he can start practicing and the Steelers believe he will be ready to contribute before week 7. ...
