Terrell Owens was one of the great showmen of the NFL for a long time, but those days are gone. Unfortunately, Owens seems to enjoy hanging around far after his presence is no longer required. Earlier this week, Terrell Owens spoke on NFL Radio, and his latest target for employment appears to be Kansas City. Owens indicated that he would fit well with Andy Reid in Kansas City. If Reid remembers anything of Owens from their days in Philadelphia, Reid will stay far, far away. Owens cited the west coast offense as a good fit for him, saying that the Vikings and Chiefs would make good locations. When asked if anyone was interested in his services this season, he provided us a predictable answer with an optimistic twist. "Nothing as of right now," Owens said on the broadcast. "So I understand the process; obviously teams are really taking a closer look in evaluating their younger players. Being a free agent, I understand that later in the months as training camp starts, they’ll start looking for veterans." Age is certainly a factor for every team in the NFL. Owens, who will turn 40 in December, is likely much slower than he was in his prime. Speed is huge in the receiving game, and without separation, even the best receivers have a difficult time putting up productive numbers. Still, a greater reason for teams to stay away from Owens is that he'd simply be a distraction. At nearly 40 years old, he's lost a step, but there's a great chance that he would still believe himself to be a solid option for most teams. The problem is that may just not be true, and if he has his ego hurt, a circus atmosphere could emerge very quickly. Owens may be holding out hope that his NFL career isn't quite over, but chances are very good that he's played his final game. [follow]
