The Houston Texans moved to 10-1 on the season after their 34-31 OT win against the Detroit Lions from Ford Field.
After securing their second OT victory is as many weeks, this one for the Texans didn’t come without some controversy throughout the course of the game.
Earlier on, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh appeared to get Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub in the groin when Suh was falling down to the ground. To some it appeared to be an accident however given Suh’s reputation in the past (and now apparently his reputation on Thanksgiving Games, hello Evan Dietrich-Smith) many aren’t giving him the benefit of the doubt and believe it was done intentionally.
The second play in question came in the third quarter when Texans running back Justin Forsett rushed for an 81-yard touchdown to eventually bring the Texans within the field goal (pending the extra point) 24-21. However replays on the run clearly showed Forsett being down by contact 6 or 7 yards into the play which should’ve been reviewed and overturned given it was a scoring play. However Lions head coach Jim Schwartz tossed the challenge flag which according to NFL rules is basically a delay of game resulting in a 15-yard penalty and the play negated from being reviewed.
Pretty counter-intuitive if you ask me and something that really needs to be adjusted heading into next season. However the Texans and Lions each had their opportunities to win the game after this which the Texans fully took advantage of.
