Bull Pen Dirt:
The engineers and what-not have declared Reliant Stadium structurally and mechanically sound enough to host the rest of the Texans home games--despite the fact that the stadium is still missing half a roof.
Solution? Open it.?A little fresh air never killed anyone. I actually heard from a guy that football games played by Houston's professional football teams used to be?outside. It's a novel thought.?Luckily the Texans next home game?isn't until October 5th, so it should only be like 92 degrees outside instead of your typical 95+.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that the Texans would rather play in a stadium with half a roof rather than walk across the parking lot over to the Astrodome? I understand that "the turf isn't what the players are used to playing on," and that the place could definitely use some renovations, but I also think it would bring?a lot of nostaligic Oilers fans out of the woodwork and make for a heck of a publicity stunt.
From what I've read so far, the plan is to play with the roof open and work on repairs while the Texans are playing their away games. My own assessment is that if the Texans continue to play like they did against the Steelers, they will be able to finish up any repairs throughout the end of December and January with NO INTERRUPTION.
All kidding aside, this is one shred of good news that Houstonians can hang their hat on. And good news hasn't been all that frequent, lately.
