Former Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope blazed a 4.34 40 yard dash at the combine, and made himself some money. Swope who was flying under the radar a bit, is no longer an unknown in NFL circles.
During an interview on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Thursday, Swope was asked about being a white guy with that kinds of speed.
He said the fact that a white guy ran as fast as he did probably caught some people off guard.
“I think a lot of people were pretty shocked,” Swope said. “You don’t see that every day, a white guy running a 4.3. I just wanted to go out and let people know how important this is to me. This is a big deal. I’m trying to make it in the NFL and I want to go out and do it the right way.”
Swope’s initial scouting report suggested that his straight line speed was overrated. Swope says he’s always been compared to successful white wide receivers, and he has no problem being compared to Wes Welker.
“I’ve been compared to Welker,” he said. “I think that’s a huge compliment because Welker’s a great football player. … But I think people decide to make a white and white comparison.”
Black or white, Swope will definitely have a job.

Danny Amendola vs Wes Welker??? Would you take one or Both???
Thanks for the submission, you can all send us something Patriots-y here if you want.
As for your question I think if Welker comes back it’s probably unlikely they bring Amendola in, but I wouldn’t totally rule it out. I’d say then it comes down to him or Edelmand and I’d prefer Edelman.

IS HE PRETTY FLY?
Former Texas A&M wideout Ryan Swope believes his running the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the Combine caught people off guard because he is white.
In 1992, Woody Harrelson proved to Wesley Snipes that, in fact, white men can jump. Recently, Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope showed NFL scouts that white men can run, too. Swope had a terrific showing at last week’s NFL combine and even wowed scouts with his speed, running a 4.34 40-yard dash, which was apparently unexpected given his skin color. His speedy 40 time...
Raise your hand if you had Ryan Swope as the NFL Combine participant most likely to break down racial stereotypes.
Swope ran fast at the Combine. Real fast. He ran a 4.34 40-yard dash, and he has noticed that people seem to be shocked by this and he thinks he knows why.
"I think a lot of people were pretty shocked," he told the Dan Patrick Show. "You don't see...

During this year’s NFL combine, Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope ran a 4.34 40 yard dash, which placed him in a tie for the second fastest 40 time at the combine. According to Swope, he thought people believed...
With the future of Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd still in doubt, the New England Patriots will probably be targeting Wide Receivers in the off-season. And there are certainly some good pass catchers available in the upcoming draft. However, with a lack of draft picks to use, it's important that the Patriots pick the right guy. Here are 5 receivers we at Patriots Life have selected...

After giving quarterback Tom Brady a very cap friendly contract extension, the New England Patriots are now $25 million under the cap.
Having that much money under the cap gives the Pats the flexibility to re-sign Wes Welker, as well as possibly bring in a guy like Mike Wallace.
Once free agency kicks off on March 12th, things could get interesting.
