Chalk one up for the inanimate object.
Tarp won the latest battle in the never-ending war between man and tarp on Wednesday. The grounds crew at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington did all it could to keep things under control during the unplayable conditions, which postponed the evening’s Rangers-Diamondbacks game, but Mother Nature really complicated matters.
The grounds crew tried tirelessly to get the tarp down amid gusty wind and torrential downpours. The unit was rewarded for its hard work by nearly getting swallowed up.
Check out the grounds crew’s difficult night in the video below.

NEED A LITTLE WIND HERE
YouTube Wednesday’s game between the Rangers and Diamondbacks was cancelled due to an unplayable field after a whole day of rain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. But those with tickets at least got some action if they stuck around. The Rangers grounds crew had issues trying to remove the tarp from the field. A gust of wind gave several members a nice ride and started a mean game...
Nolan Ryan, 1991 Pacific Trading Cards
Wow, just wow. I’d like to meet the exec that thought a series of baseball cards showcasing Nolan Ryan stretching would be a good idea. Because that’s what we all want to see, upper old-man thigh on a baseball card. Decisions like this are probably why I never bought a pack of Pacific in my life.
Here’s how you do different Pacific.
ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers continue to have their resolve tested on the injury front.
Wednesday was nothing new.
Second baseman Ian Kinsler, who is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday, will be out around two more weeks after an MRI revealed a stress reaction in his right rib area.
That wasn't the only injury setback for the club either as right-hander Colby...
The Texas Rangers have a major dilemma. But it's the kind that other major-league teams would love to have.
The Rangers have the best prospect in baseball, and he's currently lighting it up at the major-league level while second baseman Ian Kinsler remains on the DL. Coming off the first three-hit game of his major-league career, Profar is now hitting .370 in 27 ABs since...
Many critics scoffed at the notion of the Texas Ranger’s $108 Million US investment in Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish. Investing so much money into an unproven pitcher from another country seemed absurd, the Rangers blind confidence in their investment was questionable and the “Cy Young Award” incentives included into the contract seemed downright laughable. Nevertheless...
ARLINGTON, Texas The difference in Derek Holland this season could be seen in the third inning Friday night.
After cruising through the first two innings, Holland, the Rangers' lefty, got into a jam in the third inning against the Kansas City Royals.
A leadoff double was followed by an infield single. Then another single plated a run.
Holland had runners at second and third...
The Texas Rangers will have to wait longer to get back right-hander Colby Lewis and second baseman Ian Kinsler.
General manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday that Lewis has been pulled off his rehabilitation assignment because of muscular soreness in his elbow. Lewis had surgery last July to repair a torn flexor tendon in his elbow.
Kinsler has been out since May 18 with bruised ribs...
The Texas Rangers are still one of the best teams in baseball right now, but they've seen their lead in the American League West shrink drastically. The team could use some reinforcements, but they may have to wait a bit longer. Ian Kinsler, on the disabled list with an intercostal strain, has suffered a setback in his recovery.
According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com,...
ARLINGTON, Texas Texas prospect Mike Olt, who has been sidelined by eye issues since late April, is slated to return from the minor league disabled list Friday night and play for Double-A Frisco.
Olt has spent the week in Surprise and has played in extended spring training games.
Olt hasn't played in an actual game since April 25. He was put on the disabled list May 8 with...
If you ever been to North Texas for a long period of time you know that monster thunderstorms can pop up quickly.
A grand-daddy thunderstorm popped up before the Texas Rangers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday night leaving the Rangers grounds crew to fight the elements while dragging the tarp.

Texas Rangers starter Alexi Ogando could be back in the big leagues next week, providing a rehab start at Double-A Frisco on Friday goes well. MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan and Master Tesfatsion report that Ogando will make a five inning/75-pitch start, which the Rangers hope will be the final stage in his recovery. After throwing bullpen sessions Monday and Wednesday, Ogando sounds...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Derek Holland struck out eight and Nelson Cruz hit a long tiebreaking three-run homer and the Texas Rangers beat the weary Kansas City Royals 7-2 Friday night.
Holland (5-2) allowed two runs, one earned, over seven innings to wrap up his undefeated May. The left-hander was 4-0 in his six May starts, matching a career best for wins in any month.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers postponed their game Wednesday night against Arizona due to unplayable field conditions caused by a severe thunderstorm just more than an hour before the game was scheduled to start.
During the storm that included lightning, gusty winds and heavy rains, the infield was soaked while the grounds crew struggled...
It’s been a few days since I posted. But it’s also been a few days since the Rangers played. After Monday’s doubleheader, Tuesday was an off-day, and then Wednesday’s game got rained out. The downtime seemed to be good for the players as they burst out for nine runs on 15 hits against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Most of the Rangers’ runs were scored on Brandon McCarthy...
The Texas Rangers' offense got in gear and they ended their longest losing streak of the season.
After much delay, so did the Kansas City Royals, who still need to improve their offense under interim hitting coach George Brett.
The AL West-leading Rangers and Royals meet for the first time this season Friday night in Arlington.
