Closer issues aside, the biggest question surrounding the Phillies right now seems to be on which day will the Phillies clinch the division? They could do it as early as tomorrow if they win tonight and tomorrow coupled with some loses from the rest of the division. They could do it Sunday on their way out of Miller Park or maybe even come back home and ruin a few of David Montgomery's rugs at Citizens Bank Park.
What day it actually happens is not important. How they finish up the season heading into October is what really matters.
Cliff Lee is likely making his second to last start of the regular season, so the remaining outings for each starter are important to get their stuff right for the postseason. The Brewers will roll out Manny Para who hasn't pitched in a few weeks since suffering from a stiff neck.
The most interesting news of the day coming out of Milwaukee is that Pedro Martinez may or may not make his scheduled start on Saturday due to still having a sore neck. It makes sense that Pedro wouldn't want to risk further aggravating his injury with the postseason right around the corner.
Rauuuuuul Ibanez will not start to night due to a stomach virus. Benny Fresh should fill in just fine.
To watch tonight: Prince Fielder and The Big Piece enter this evening's game tied for the most RBIs in all of the land. It'd be nice to see Howard get a step up. Also, the Braves are playing the Nationals, so feel free to root for those pathetic people from Washington, DC this evening.
8:05 start.
