It was a “very frustrating, sad day,’’ according to Union President, Derek Fisher.

Over the past week, the ebb and flow of the NBA labor negotiations has moved from “a deal is right around the corner” to “oh crap, we really might lose the season”.

WTF happened? After the players union reportedly offered to drop their take of the revenues down to 51% this weekend, the owners towed the hard line by keeping their offer at 50/50 and issuing an ultimatum. If the players don’t approve their offer by Wednesday, the owners’ proposal will drop back down to 47% of revenues with a flex salary cap.

Not surprisingly, the player’s aren’t exactly jumping at this deal. The union has said the owners’ offer is unacceptable and won’t even put it to vote. And this is where we now stand. Two sides that are increasingly pissed off at each other and the possibly that everything blows up after this Wednesday.

Chris Sheridan provides the morning-after lockout roundup, and includes a link to a David Aldridge tweet that says Stern can’t get the votes to move the owners off the 50/50 revenue split even if he wanted to.

Slam online compiles NBA players’ reactions on twitter to the latest breakdown in negotiations. Warning – this features a heavy dose of Nazr Mohammed rant.

A group of players are now seriously looking at decertifying the union, which would effectively cancel the season if it were to happen.

Under the long-shot scenario where the players’ union decertifies, sues the league and wins in court, what would a free market league look like without collective bargaining? It could resemble English Football, which would be a very, very bad thing if you are a fan of competitive balance.

Bobcats’ owner Michael Jordan is quickly losing favor amongst NBA players thanks to his role in this mess. As everyone is pointing out, the quote of the day comes from Michael Jordan in 1998, when he told then-Washington Wizards owner Abe Pollin: “If you can’t make a profit, you should sell your team.” Boom, roasted by yourself MJ.

There are a few NBA players currently playing in Israel, but J.J. Hickson will no longer be one of them. Hickson left his team (Bnei Hasharon) after just one game because he was “unhappy with the size of the apartment he was given,” among other reasons I’m sure. You can take J.J. Hickson out of the NBA, but you can’t take the NBA out of J.J. Hickson.

How about we finish with an actual on-the-court basketball related link? The always awesome NBA Playbook recently looked at how the league defends the top point guards (Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Steve Nash & Chris Paul) and why that is. I appreciate NBA Playbook for showing me what my eyes and brain cannot comprehend while watching games live.

SNL Spoof: “Kim Kardashian’s Fairytale Divorce”

Saturday Night Live hasn’t really been funny in years. But every once in awhile they get something SO right! Last night’s show contained a skit, Kim Kardashian’s Fairytale Divorce, It was pure hilarity! Kris Jenner trying to be the “fourth” sister. Genius. Come on, you know Kim got that trait honestly. Bruce Jenner’s frozen face. I die. And the voices… yeah, that...

Kim Kardashian Flies To Minnesota To See Kris Kardashian

I go back in forth between thinking this whole “divorce” think with Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian is completely apart of an elaborate marketing scheme. And thinking it’s actually the fallout of being a reality star. Kim was spotted flying into Minnesota where Kris currently is. The two aren’t said to be reconciling but are talking things out with the minister who married...

Report: Kim Kardashian Flies to Minnesota to Visit Kris Humphries, Who Still Hopes Marriage Can Work

Kim Kardashian blindsided her husband, NBA forward Kris Humphries, by filing for divorce last week -- a little over two months after their wedding. Kardashian reportedly flew commercial and traveled with a male companion. While...

This Is What You Get When You Marry A Kardashian Sister

I'm writing this not to point and laugh at Kris Humphries. OK, not JUST to point and laugh at Kris Humphries. I'm writing this as a cautionary tale to any other NBA player who may be entertaining the thought of going after the soon-to-be single Kim Kardashian. Don't. If you see her sitting courtside, develop flu-like symptoms and run away. Because what Saturday...

Betting odds: Who will Kim Kardashian date next?

Generally I could give two craps about Kim Kardashian but she has managed to bring good fortune to this little blog now and then. With her marrying a former Toronto Raptor, it was almost perfect, since there is never that much truly exciting news about the Dinos. So now the marriage is over and we have all had our debates on the ring, the fake wedding and all the hoopla, it is time...

Kim Kardashian meets with Kris Humphries in Minnesota

Kardashian met with Humphries as well as the pastor, Joel Johnson, who married them. But the face-to-face is being characterized as a closure chat, not a reconciliation counseling session.

Detroit Dominates Ducks, 5-0

Some things are predictable.   The sun will rise in east.   You will pay taxes.  You will die.   Kim Kardashian's marriage will not last.   The Ducks will lose when they play in Detroit in the regular season.   The last time hell froze over (in other words, the Ducks won a game at the Joe Louis Arena) was February 10, 2008.  In Saturday's match up between the Red...
