“Don’t bet on it”! That’s the NCAA’s slogan when it comes to informing their student-athletes about the dangers of gambling. The pamphlet, which is provided to every person participating in college athletics is as much hilarious as it is informative. The venerable Clark Kellogg graces the cover to tell kids that gambling can seem attractive but it is fraught with danger.

Take a look at the whole thing here.

By far, the best part of the pamphlet is the tweet. To make it look as genuine as possible, they included a fake Twitter account from a player, ScoringThreat222, who is asked whether he is playing tonight (presumably from a degenerate gambler). He responds in perfect college shorthand, “ouch…ankle not right…out for game tonight…smh”. Personally, I thought the smh, (shaking my head for the internet naive) was a nice touch but not as good as the originality and creativity of the Twitter username.

On a side note, I really wonder if officials are given these same pamphlets–maybe theirs even has good ‘ol Tim Donaghy gracing the cover. Because given the performance from the St. John’s-Rutgers crew yesterday, even if it is in their possession, it’s a good bet it’s piled underneath a plethora of betting sheets.

In fact, I’m pretty sure I saw Jim Burr give his bookie a high-five as he ran off into the tunnel.
