Today in sports more than ever there has been an outcry to players about gun control and the ownership of these weapons. The NFL has spoken out about their concerns about their players having guns.New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been one of the biggest names and advocates about gun control and stopping citizens from owning guns. With these mass shooting we’ve been witnessing through the years many Americans are upset and want something to be done about it.The league doesn’t want its players involved in any gun play and have associations with weapons. They’re letting them know the dangers of guns and the results to owning a gun and using it in dangerous situations. There are some players in the league such as Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson that has gone on record to say he owns up to 14 guns in his home and he has no reason to get rid of them.Johnson is feels that being a high profiled sports athlete that is making millions of dollars there are people that want a piece of the pie and would do anything to get it. He wants to make sure that he has enough guns in his house that he can get to it quickly if there is an attempted robbery against him.Do I think that having this many guns is out of control? Most definitely! Chris Johnson doesn’t need that many guns to protect himself and his home. He seems to be very scared and on edge. Having all of these guns can get him in a lot of trouble and maybe hurt one of his love ones. The league has programs in place that help protect players from robberies and other personal protections that are needed. I understand what they’re going through as players that are young and rich and people want to kill for that luxury. I totally understand that, but haven’t we learned anything from the Jovan Belcher tragedy. Do you think that NFL players should own guns? If so, how much is too much?
