Michael Vick told reporters that he plans on getting “back to being the old Michael Vick.“
“I’ve got to play the game and leave it all out on the field and play aggressive and shoot it and run the ball when I feel there is a need to,” said Vick, via Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly. “If I get a seam, get a crack, take it. Just do what I’ve been born to do, blessed to do.”
Considering that Vick was reportedly close to losing his job this week and the fact that playing conservative hasn’t helped his or the team’s overall production, this probably can’t hurt. Turnovers are still an issues with Vick, but his ability to take off and scramble for large gains is what has made him effective in the past. Thinking that Vick was going to win games as a traditional pocket-passer seems ridiculous, given his skill set.
Both Vick and head coach Andy Reid are feeling the pressure in Philly, but they will be up against a historically bad defense this weekend, so there’s at least a chance that the Eagles come away with a convincing win against the Saints.
