We saw on Media Day just how much conditioning Rajon Rondo has been doing during his recovery from a torn ACL. What we didn’t see that day, was the work Rondo has been putting into his jump shot. Now that training camp is underway, non-contact drills have been keeping RR involved. Working with new assistant coach Ron Adams, Rondo opted to miss the team bus on Tuesday, working on his jumper with Adams for over an hour after the session had officially ended. Jay King from Masslive.com summarised the extra work well: Showing little or no hesitation while going through offensive skill work, Rondo didn’t stop after the first practice when his teammates did. He remained on the floor to work on one-dribble pull-ups, shooting off the catch, shooting with a hand in his face, an array of drills designed to improve his accuracy from outside. Celtics employees have been impressed by Rondo’s work ethic during his recovery, saying he’s begun to work with Adams every day. Adams has been given credit for helping Derrick Rose’s jumper, so he’s used to assisting explosive point guards who need to refine their form. According to one team employee, Adams works on plenty of technical stuff with Rondo. They sometimes work with the “heavy ball,” a weighted basketball often used to extend a player’s shooting range. Footage from Celtics.com’s one-on-one interview with Phil Pressey included film of Rondo working on his jumper (see below). The noticable adjustment made to his shot is getting underneath the ball, gaining a higher arc on it’s way to the basket. If Mr. Triple Double can return with a knock-down jumper, he will be even harder to contain (when he eventually returns). Rondo works out during second day of camp

This was the first time since April, that we've seen Rajon Rondo shooting jumpers. This is what we want to see from our All-Star point guard. Rondo looked solid running through non-contract offensive drills with his team, showing a shooting touch that seems more polished. He also seemed to be moving just fine, with a small brace visible on his right knee. Even if it's a good...

Rajon Rondo had his first public workout since April on Wednesday morning. Rondo wore a small brace on his right knee and showed few lingering effects from the injury. Rondo moved fluidly overall. “I’ve seen him every day, so it’s harder for me to tell than maybe you to tell because you haven’t seen him on the court for a while,” Brad Stevens said. “He looks good to me...

Chemistry is everything when it comes to formulating a productive team. The more familiar the players are with each other, the easier it is to play with each other. Rajon Rondo, Kris Humphries Joke About Brawl, Who Would Win Fight

Kris Humphries donned a Celtics uniform for the first time Monday at the team’s media day, sporting his usual No. 43 on the jersey. For most Celtics fans, 43 belongs to beloved ex-Celtic Kendrick Perkins. Perk was known for his mean grimace, hard picks and fighting spirit. Some people even called him “the big, mean, green machine.” Humphries isn’t exactly on the same level...

Rajon Rondo didn’t feel anything when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were traded

While trades are commonplace in the NBA, many might have perceived that when the Boston Celtics traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, Rajon Rondo might have felt something regarding the deal. However, it appears that the “hard facts” of the NBA kept from feeling much about the loss of two of his teammates and his head coach, Doc Rivers: “It wasn’t difficult...

But, Rondo has always had a veteran to lean on and the inclusion of Keith Bogans in the trade insures...

He said he wants ball movement, floor spacing, and...

This is Chess not Checkers: Brad Stevens on rebuilding Boston's identity

The Boston Celtics from 2007 – 2013 hung their hats on many things: strong defense, irrational confidence, other worldly smack talk, and ubuntu. This era of the Boston Celtics held three first ballot Hall of Famers at its core with an outer layer of up and coming players around it flanked by a rotating supporting cast of roll players and veterans. This system worked, largely...
