IF THE ENTHUSIASM and speed with which Mike Leach's first WSU recruiting class responds to text messages is any indication, the future of the program is indeed bright. A quick note to members of the class asking them to fire over a heads up upon their arrival in Pullman has yielded an outpouring of missives as the young guns descend on Pullman for the start of summer class and voluntary workouts.

MIKE LEACH SAID from the time he arrived in Pullman that the Evergreen State would be a critical part of the Cougs’ recruiting focus. On Monday, Washington State and Leach landed their third verbal commit from the state, a tackling machine of a middle linebacker and a fourth- generation Cougar.
