Being a former resident of the Hoosier State, I should be excited about Notre Dame’s undefeated season — and I am. But as far as the Irish’s national title hopes, I don’t see them ending well in Miami versus whichever SEC behemoth wins this silly conference title game Friday night in Atlanta. Congrats on making the BCS National Championship Game Brian Kelly…but you’re likely to lose, and it won’t really mean much of anything anyway. And that’s just another black eye for college football, coming off a 2011 season that most called awful on and off the field. Another Meaningless BCS Title Game Truth be told, could Notre Dame beat any of the top six SEC teams more than three times out of ten? Could they beat one-loss Kansas State or Oregon right now? Probably not, despite what the esteemed Jon Washburn pontificated earlier this month. The Irish had nice wins over Oklahoma and a few others. But they got lucky against Stanford; they struggled mightily against overrated Michigan, bad BYU,...

Notre Dame gives ABC the highest rated college football game of the year

The Notre Dame-USC matchup on Saturday evening that saw the Fighting Irish prevail 22-13 to win their 12th game of the season handed ABC the best ratings they've had for a game this season, drawing a 10.3 overnight that has crushed any game broadcast on any network this season, besting CBS's Alabama-LSU matchup from three weeks ago, which drew a 7.0 rating, by nearly 50%...

Irish through to BCS Championship, but who will they play?

The Fighting Irish are on their way to the BCS Championship game thanks to a 22-13 win over USC this past weekend, but they’ll have to wait another few days to find out who they’ll play there. With the hard-fought victory over their arch rivals, the Irish retained the top spot in the BCS standings and that guarantees them a trip to Miami for the Jan. 7 showdown. Now the big question...

Notre Dame: The New Ohio State Buckeyes

Notre Dame has taken care of business every weekend.  They have an offense that scores enough to win, while the defense stops the run.  This reminds me of those late millennium Buckeye teams that looked great until the BCS Championship Game - then things went south up against the SEC teams. Well, here we go again.  Alabama will take away anything that Notre Dame has on offense...

UND and ND highlights from Saturday's game

Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's game between UND and Notre Dame. Obviously,  UND lost the game  5-2 and I  am sure that Zane Gothberg would like to have a few of those shots back, especially the two that were from the top of the faceoff circle, but UND did manage to play some pretty good hockey in the third period. Also, Mark MacMillan's goal in the...

Target Practice
