Found August 26, 2013 on Mets Merized Online:
Is it me, or does it suddenly feel like the sky is falling? On the heels of the terrible news that Mets ace Matt Harvey has a partially torn UCL, top prospect Noah Syndergaard had the worst outing of his professional career. Taking the mound tonight against Bowie, Syndergaard had been brilliant over his last four starts– allowing just one earned run in total. Well things definitely took a turn for the worse, and quickly. The big right-hander allowed four runs in the first– two on a double by Bowie shortstop Josh Horton. The wheels continued to fall off from there, as Syndergaard allowed four more runs in the second, and three in the third. When his night was over he left the mound trailing 11-0. In all, Noah allowed nine earned runs on nine hits, three of them homeruns. He struck out five and walked two. Hopefully this was just an off night for Syndergaard. He came into the game not having pitched in nine days. Perhaps that was a factor. I pray that was the reason. This organization...

A Get Well Message For Matt Harvey

I’m officially in 2014 mode, what about you? Actually, I have been for some time now, but the Matt Harvey news and the purge that followed clinched it for me. Speaking of Harvey, God bless that poor kid. After the news broke about his torn UCL, my heart went out to him and I tweeted him the following: @MattHarvey33 Thanks for all the hope & optimism you've given Mets fans...

Matt Harvey and overcoming the loss of a star

Matt Harvey's injury would be a terrible blow to the Mets under any circumstances. But contending teams have enough depth to overcome, or at least mitigate, the damage. The Mets will finally be a contender again when an awful day like this one does not have people writing off the next season. In February 2011, Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright was found to need Tommy John surgery...

Matt Harvey Pledges to Be Back and Ready for April 1 of Next Season

The baseball world was shocked to hear of Matt Harvey‘s devastating arm injury Monday. However, if Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is able to live up to his Tuesday pledge, he’ll downright floor the rest of baseball. It was revealed Monday that Harvey suffered a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow. At the very least, he’ll need to be shut down for the...

The Mets To Honor Matt Harvey With Commemorative Patch

The New York Mets are doing everything in their power to help Matt Harvey through his injury. Today the Mets placed their ace on the Disabled List today with a tear in his UCL. It is unclear whether or not Harvey will need to have Tommy John Surgery. Later on the team announced that they will wear a commemorative patch in Harvey’s honor for the remainder of his stint on the...

Matt Harvey: Not The Hero We Deserved, But The One That We Needed

Matt Harvey is going to miss a significant amount of time; not much else is known at this time. What has been well-documented however, is just how much of an impact the Dark Knight of Gotham had on the New York Mets organization and their fans alike. The mood surrounding this franchise has plunged further and further into disappointment, animosity and frustration ever since Adam...

Matt Harvey says he'll be ready for Opening Day 2014

Maybe Matt Harvey knows something we don't.  Word has still not come down on how his partially torn ulnar collateral ligament will be handled, but the ace right-hander for the New York Mets is already seeming pretty confident that he will make a speedy recovery. Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. I may be done this year, but I will be back next year for...

The Odds of Matt Harvey Breaking Down

Yesterday, it was reported Matt Harvey may need Tommy John surgery because of a torn UCL in his right elbow. Some people may say they saw the injury coming and the Mets were crazy to let him throw over 175 innings this season, but the evidence doesn’t really support those ideas. After looking over the […]

Report: Mets’ Matt Harvey Placed on Disabled List With Partially Torn Elbow Ligament, May Need Tommy John Surgery

The Mets’ miserable season just got a whole lot worse. WFAN’s Mike Francesa first reported the news Monday afternoon, and a team source...

Phillies vs Mets: As Harvey News Hits Home, Wheeler Takes The Mound Tonight

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets Citi Field • 7:10 PM Cliff Lee (10-6, 3.16) vs Zack Wheeler (6-2, 3.49) I’m so devastated in a baseball sense by today’s news on Matt Harvey… He was supposed to be the poster boy for the new Mets renaissance… Now I don’t know what to think or how to feel…. That said, there is a game today… @MattHarvey33 Thanks for all the...

Matt Harvey Diagnosed with Torn UCL

Sometimes, baseball is just cruel. Source: #Mets’ Harvey has partially torn UCL. Will be shut down. Determination on whether he needs Tommy John surgery will be made later. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) August 26, 2013 A couple of years ago, Stephen Strasburg was the best young pitcher we’d seen in a very long time, and […]

Degree Of UCL Tear Will Determine If Surgery’s An Option; Why Was Collins In The Dark?

Now that we’ve all had 48 hours to consider the big blow of losing our ace Matt Harvey, I can’t help but wonder about some things that were said during the press conference when GM Sandy Alderson, manager Terry Collins, and of course Matt Harvey all delivered the somber news and then fielded questions from the media. First I want to make clear that this isn’t about playing...

Lucie Rumblings: Fulmer And Bowman On DL, Two Called Up From GCL

I’ve got a quick update that I would’ve slipped into a St. Lucie game recap if we had one — but their game was rained out last night and they’ll attempt to make it up as part of a double-header today. Michael Fulmer was placed on the DL yesterday, likely related to the comebacker that drilled him in his last start on August 18th. He was forced out of the game after 3.1 shutout...
