THUMBS UPSantana Moss: Santana Moss finally broke loose from double coverage and erupted, catching 10 passes for 178 yards and a TD. Moss caught short passes, caught deep passes and got yards after the catch. One of his best performances as a Redskin.Jon Jansen: We've never done this before at DC Pro Sports Report, but we're going to give a Thumbs Up award to an opposing player. Not just any opposing player, though, it's Jon Jansen, drafted in the 2nd round so long ago [1999] that Charlie Casserly was making those kinds of decisions. Age and injuries conspired to rob Jansen of much of his quickness and power over the last 5 years and the Redskins cut him in the offseason. Jansen, clearly bitter about the experience, returned to his home in Michigan and signed with an awful Lions team that had gone winless before. If the Lions only won one game in 2009, Jansen wanted it to be this one and he got his wish. Congratulations to a real pro and someone who was a great Redskin for years.Honorable Mention: Backup safety Reed Doughty made some nice plays and hit hard most of the day. THUMBS DOWNFox: I'm sorry, but the Fox broadcast is just terrible. It's not even the mediocre announcers, it's the severe limitations the network has put on using instant replay in order to save money. The whole broadcast looks and feels cheap. Too bad ESPN doesn't have the rights to NFC games. The Washington Redskins: Well, here's another first, we're giving this award to the entire team. There are so many persons who deserve thumbs down for this, starting in the owners box and going down to backup defensive linemen. The play-calling was poor and the team looked lame and sloppy once again. The defense was demolished, the line pushed back by a poor Lions offensive line, the linebackers missed tackles and the secondary continues to be an incredibly overpaid and overrated mess of missed tackles, missed assignments and penalties. DeAngelo Hall is clearly coasting on his big contract, Carlos Rogers is making a hash of his contract season and Laron Landry may look tough in his uniform, but nobody can remember why this guy was chosen with the 6th overall pick in the draft.
