The Detroit Tigers' website, tigers.com, has announced that the Detroit Tigers have acquired left-hander starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for left-hander Luke French and Class A left-hander Mauricio Robles. For his career, Washburn has a 104-106 record with a 4.06 ERA. He was a member of the Anaheim Angels from 1998-2005 before becoming a member of the Seattle Mariners, where he was 8-14 in 2006, 10-15 in 2007, and 5-14 in 2008.Washburn, who is 31 years old, is currently 8-6 with Seattle with a 2.64 ERA (third-best in AL) in 20 starts. He was 4-1 in July with a 1.44 ERA in six starts, which bodes well for the Tigers going forward.Washburn does not address the Tigers need for another bat, but, as the saying goes, “You can never have enough pitching."Judging by the numbers, Washburn has had a rough ride in Seattle, but you’d have to think Washburn will fare much better and be more consistent as a member of the Tigers....
