Guan Tianlang, a 14-year-old boy from China, won the Asia-Pacific Championship on Sunday. What does that get him? A qualification for the Masters! Yes, a 14-year-old boy is going to be playing in the 2013 Masters. I promise that you didn’t read that wrong.
Guan is going to be the youngest player to ever compete in the Masters. He blew the previous record out of the water, which was set by Matteo Manassero of Italy – he was almost 17 years old when he competed in 2010.
Back in June, there was a 14-year-old boy from China that competed in the U.S. Open. Do you all remember Andy Zhang? He didn’t do so hot (he ended up missing the cut), but you had to expect it because, you know, he’s only 14!
My prediction on how Guan will do at the Masters: He’ll miss the cut. I don’t want him to, quite frankly because it would be beyond awesome to see such a young boy do so well, but let’s be real here.
