Colorado Rockies veteran first baseman Todd Helton reportedly was on a lottery ticket run, which ultimately led to his arrest for DUI early Wednesday morning according to a police report obtained by TMZ. Helton allegedly “made spontaneous statements about drinking two igloo cups of red wine” during his arrest after police tracked him down in a gas station parking lot after receiving a tip that Helton had struck a median in his black Ford F-150 truck. The report further states that when police arrived at the scene, Helton was spotted stumbling out of the gas station allegedly reeking of liquor and holding the aforementioned lottery tickets in his hand. When confronted, Helton denied hitting the median but nevertheless made the previously alluded to comments about putting back two igloo cups of wine. According to various websites that report on baseball player salaries, Helton made $4.9 million during the 2012 season and is scheduled to earn an additional $5 million in 2013. He reportedly made $16.6 million in 2010 and $19.1 million in 2011. And he was out at 2:30 in the morning, allegedly drunk, and buying lottery tickets. Yeah. If there is any possibility of the tiniest, barely significant silver lining to this story, the report also indicates that Helton “respectful and professional throughout the entire process.” So he’s got that going for him. Which is nice. TweetThe post Todd Helton allegedly was busted for DUI while on an inebriated lottery ticket run appeared first on Sportress of Blogitude.
