Tom Ricketts is Delusional

I missed this article on ESPN. I also didn’t read much about Ricketts said other than what was posted here by MO and others. I just don’t care. I happened to open this link and couldn’t help but notice how nuts Ricketts is. “The Ricketts family is going to own this team for generations and so there’s no reason for us to jump in with something that’s splashy and might sound great for the few months but be a mistake,” Tom Ricketts told Reuters TV. In other words, we’re not spending **** and we’re going to let the current team fail while still paying a shitload of money in contracts. Good idea. “Wrigley has a special feel to it,” said Ricketts, who lived across from the park during college and met his wife in its bleacher seats. “As we looked at becoming owners throughout this process, we knew we had to maintain that.” Wrigley’s “feel” is so special that it reminds me of this place, this place, this place, this place, this place, this place, and a bunch of other ballparks that I’m too lazy to link to. “If there’s an extra sponsor, if there’s an extra sign, if there’s an extra name to the stadium, if that brings in more revenue and makes the team more viable and allows us to spend more on the stadium and more on the players, that’s in your best interest and I think most fans get that,” he said. I’m glad Ricketts will be doing this, but he really thinks that most of the fans get this? I thought he was a Cubs fan. He clearly has no ******* clue what the fan base wants. That could be a good thing though. “If the players can play up to their historical standards, we’re still going to be the team to beat,” he said. (dying laughing) He might be as delusional as the previous owners.
