The summer of burning down the house continued today, as the Pirates dealt Jack Wilson and Ian Snell to Seattle and Freddy Sanchez to San Francisco. Their haul in return came to five players (four from the Mariners, one from the Giants), with only journeyman shortstop Ronny Cedeno joining the major league club.
These trades follow the same approach that GM Neal Huntington has taken with all his moves this season: selling serviceable pieces of a last place team for high-ceiling but far from certain prospects.
