James Franco is on a tear with his projects in adapting classic novels for feature length films. His intellectual side has really been showing with his recent film announcements for As I lay Dying and The Sound and the Fury which were classic American novels written by William Faulkner. Now Franco will be directing the Cormac McCarthy adaptation of Child of God.
Deadline reported earlier today that the film is slated to be released at the Venice Film Festival on August 31st. It stars James Franco, Tim Blake Nelson, Jim Parrack, and Scott Haze who stars as Lester Ballard. Ballard is the main character in the novel who separates himself from the norms of society and eventually becomes a deranged serial killer, which you could probably guess in seeing this eerie trailer. McCarthy has wrote novels such as The Road, No Country for Old Men, and The Counselor, so it is pretty safe to say this one will be a bloody and deeply disturbing dive into the darkest corners of mankind’s emotion.
