Training camp storylines: For Smithson, age is just a number

The Nashville Predators take to the ice for two preseason games Monday in Florida. Sunday afternoon the Predators released the rosters for the first two games of the preseason for Nashville. While Pekka Rinne, Ryan Suter and Shea Weber will not be playing against the Panthers organization, 40 of the 55 man training camp roster will see action today, including Predators forward Jerred Smithson. Smithson, who is slated to play in this afternoon’s game, is the oldest forward at camp, and the oldest player on the team with defenseman Francis Bouillon out of the lineup with a concussion. Smithson’s description of the Predators training camp roster is short. “That’s a young team”, the 32 year old said after practice Sunday. The Vernon, British Columbia native says he doesn’t feel like one of the old guys. “It’s just a number. I feel young,” he said, adding “I act young at times.
