Jim Tressel is headed back to the classroom. Tressel, the former Ohio State coach now serving in an administrative role at the University at Akron, will teach a "General Principles of Coaching" class this fall with former Akron and Walsh University coach Jim Dennison. The class starts next Wednesday, Aug. 28, and runs once a week through early December. Tressel has a new title in his day job, too, as Akron's vice president for student success. Tressel was forced to resign from Ohio State in May 2011 after a 10-year run that included a national championship in 2002. He told FOXSportsOhio.com last spring that he's "been so busy (he) hasn't been yearning to coach." Tressel and Dennison's coaching class is open to undergraduate and graduate students and also to the general public, including via five satellite locations to allow current high school coaches to take it. According to Akron's website, speakers set for the class include current Akron football coach Terry Bowden, Akron basketball coach Keith Dambrot and the recently retired former coach of Div. III football powerhouse Mount Union, Larry Kehres. Dennison just retired after 53 years in coaching, including 13 years at Akron when the Zips were a Div. II and Div. I-AA program. Gerry Faust replaced Dennison in 1986 when Akron moved to Div. I-A.
