Trent Dilfer has drastically changed in the past few years.  He would frequently make misinformed and terrible predictions and opinions of our beloved Atlanta Falcons.  More recently Dilfer has done something more commonly refered to as, "actually doing your job instead of winging it, Peter Gibbons-style," and has completed some very interesting tape analysis that he tweets.

Has this man had a sip of Falcohol?

If you watched the Chiefs game last week then you may not be too surprised about what Dilfer had to say, which is after the jump.

Cutler: The same thing that makes you laugh WILL make you cry!High ceiling-Low floor

Not only is this the reason my fantasy football league is doomed but it shows that Dilfer has a pretty good handle on quarterbacks and is not suffering from Grudenism, a terrible disease that causes you to love every NFL player.

#filmstudy Ryan Tremendous command at LOS, up tempo allows him to "read defenses mail" then check to gash play. Quick mind & very decisive

— Trent Dilfer (@TDESPN) September 14, 2012

Woah, an up temp offense allows Ryan to use his ability to read defenses?  Thanks Mike Mularkey.  The chains are off Matt Ryan and he is really at the top of his game controlling an offense.  Dilfer loves his quick decision making, something I noted was very impressive in preseason.

#filmstudy Ryan Mechanics are close to #TeachingTape His base stays wide, back leg maintains load, head level, & short arc w/stroke

— Trent Dilfer (@TDESPN) September 14, 2012

That is high praise for Ryan who is just starting his fifth year in the league.  A mechanically sound quarterback will allow an offense to do so much more than say, just being able to Jamarcus Russell a football 90 yards.  (Chucking the football as hard as you can in the general direction of football players is a favorite of Jay Cutler)

#filmstudy Ryan It makes sense why he has more energy on ball & feet this year. He put on 5 pounds of muscle & worked hard on core strength

— Trent Dilfer (@TDESPN) September 14, 2012

You will find Dilfer is very impressed with Ryan's arm strength and even his footspeed this year.  He looked great last week against the Chiefs with a much better deep ball than we are accustomed to seeing.  I was pretty surprised to see Ryan run the ball so effectively instead of my usual cringing when he runs for under two yards.  Ryan has averaged between 1.6 to 2.7 yards per carry since entering the league but rushed for 8.3 yards per carry on Sunday.  Maybe it is the offensive scheme, maybe it is the added weight, or maybe both, but Ryan looks much improved.

Be sure to check out Dilfer's timeline for a bit more analysis on Ryan.  It has certainly looked like Ryan has taken that next step we have been waiting for and Dilfer's statements make me feel confident Ryan will enter the elite quarterback conversation.
