TEAMS: New Jersey Nets, Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Golden Gophers
MINNEAPOLIS Celebrity couple Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries may be splitting up, but their names will live on forever on an autographed baseball that is being put up for auction by the Minnesota Twins.
Humphries, a Minnesota native, and Kardashian visited Target Field in Minneapolis for a July 1 game last year between the Twins and Milwaukee Brewers. Before Humphries threw out the ceremonial first pitch, the famous couple signed a baseball. That ball is now up for auction, with the proceeds benefiting the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
"We have as far as we know, a one-of-a-kind item a baseball with both of their signatures which we believe is best used to raise incremental funds for the good works of the Community Fund," said Kevin Smith, executive director of public affairs for the Twins.
Kardashian included an "XO" with her signature, while Humphries also wrote "43," his number for the New Jersey Nets. Click here to see the baseball.
The opening bid for the baseball is 250, with minimum bid increments of 25. The auction for the ball will close at 3 p.m. CT on Valentines Day. What better gift for your sweetheart than a baseball signed by this soon-to-be-ex-power couple?
Humphries is now a forward for New Jersey, but he starred for his hometown Minnesota Golden Gophers in college. Kardashian, a socialite and model, filed for divorce from Humphries in late October, just 72 days after their wedding. They spent the Twins game together in a suite and had the chance to meet several Twins players during a rain delay.
"I'm not a baseball guy, but I enjoy supporting the hometown team," Humphries
told FOX Sports North before the game.
It was the second Twins game that Humphries threw out a ceremonial first pitch for. Back when Minnesota played at the Metrodome, Humphries short-hopped a pitch over the plate. With Kim looking on at Target Field, Humphries second attempt was much closer.
"I threw it right underneath the strike zone here, so no one would hit a home run on
me," Humphries said.
