This looks to be a hard hitting fight to end the Facebook portion of the event.  Both fighters have been to the big show before, and each has tasted both victory and defeat in the Octagon.  Philip De Fries is 2-1 under the UFC banner, with his loss coming via TKO to Stipe Miocic back on Fuel TV.  Todd Duffee had one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history, when he dropped Tim Hague seven seconds into their UFC 102 scrap.  He was finished by Mike Russow and released.  He got hammered by Alistair Overeem and defeated Neil Grove to earn another shot in the UFC. The Records: Philip De Fries:  9-1Todd Duffee:  7-2Past Five Performances:Philip De Fries:  4-1 Defeated Colin Robinson, Defeated Stav Economou, Defeated Rob Broughton, Lost to Stipe Miocic, Defeated Oli Thompson Todd Duffee: 3-2 Defeated Assuerio Silva, Defeated Tim Hague, Lost to Mike Russow, Lost to Alistair Overeem, Defeated Neil Grove.Amazing Strengths: Philip De Fries:  Submissions, he’s earned eight of his nine victories by submission.  Despite being 6 foot 4 and 241 pounds, he moves very well, and is tremendously athletic. Todd Duffee:  Physical specimen looks to have been carved from granite.  Heavy handed, has won all of his seven fights by TKO/KO. Glaring Weaknesses: Philip De Fries:  Can be one dimensional in his striking.  Can be hit at times. Todd Duffee:  Doesn’t seem to be as durable as he should be.  Condition not lasting has been an issue.  Alistair Overeem made him look extremely pedestrian.    How it should unfold: If this fight goes in favor of Philip de Fries, it’s likely due to him taking Duffee down early and out working him on the mat, setting up a submission.  The longer he stands with Duffee, the more chance Duffee has to put his heavy hands on the chin of Philip De Fries. Duffee wants the early stoppage, and if he wins, it’s likely because he got it.  He will look to land a jab early, and then set up a right hand over the top.  If he can get that going, he can end the fight in the first round and put himself back on the map in the UFC.  If he’s forced to battle on the ground for three rounds, he will likely be on the losing side of things. It’s the prototypical striker versus grappler match but in this case, it’s not so cut and dry.  Duffee favors the standup, but has some ground skills, and De Fries can handle himself standing as well.  It’s more a contest of who can force the other to play his game, and in the end, De Fries should hold an advantage.Bottom Line: Duffee could hurt De Fries early, but expect Philip to weather the storm and take the fight to the ground and earn yet another submission victory.  Back and forth first round, that settles into a grind, and eventually a rear naked choke victory for Philip De Fries.  By Dan Rose for hov-mma
