South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney has been one of the most hyped college football players in recent years and tonight the country will be watching as he and the Gamecocks open their season against UNC. So how do the Tar Heels prepare for who some have called the best defensive pro prospect in decades? According to UNC left tackle and All-American candidate James Hurst, he and his offensive lineman have been studying film for the last eight months. H/T: The Charlotte Observer Asked recently if he and his teammates on the offensive line had gathered for a Clowney-specific film session, Hurst said, “I think that’s been going on for about eight months now.” Hurst says he specifically has been studying Clowney’s moves trying identifying tendencies, and UNC offensive coordinator Blake Anderson says they will try to make the defensive end as uncomfortable as possible by playing an up-tempo game. I’m not sure if any of that will help. Maybe you double Clowney but try not to put too much focus on him. Let him get his, because he will, and try to neutralize the other defensive players as much as possible. There’s only one problem. Unfortunately, if there is one college football player that can disrupt an entire game by himself it’s “The Beast.”
