Wilson Kipsang set a new world record Sunday at the Berlin Marathon, completing the course in a time of 2:03:38 -- 15 seconds better than the previous record set by Patrick Makau in 2011.
But the Kenyan distance runner wasn't the first to cross the finish line at the race.
How is that possible, you ask?
Well, Kipsang had his banner-breaking moment thwarted by a fan who hopped onto the course down the homestretch and beat him to the finish.
To make matters worse, the reveler-turned-intruder was wearing a shirt promoting a German escort site, complete with a URL for his own profile on the site.
If you chase the guy down the rabbit hole, his profile links to a Facebook page -- which identifies him as 35-year-old Kalikus Dreizehn ("Dreizehn" is German for the number 13) -- a Twitter profile and a YouTube page, which includes this video, complete with additional footage of his leap onto the course:
I don't speak German, so I can't tell you what he's saying in the clip, but I can tell you that he's drinking Jagermeister, which pretty much explains this whole thing.
As for Kipsang, he got $54,000 for winning the race and received a $68,000 bonus for setting the new world record, so I doubt he's too torn up over this guy stealing his moment.
