For the USA/Belize soccer game, Chris Wondolowski’s name was spelled wrong on the back of his jersey.  In the first half, his jersey had an extra W on it and said Wondowloswki.  It should be noted that despite his name being spelled wrong, he scored three goals in the first half.   To start the second half he came out with a new jersey with the correct spelling of his name.  Wondolowski went on to score zero goals in the 2nd half, bringing some people to say that he should legally change his name to Wondowlowski, or at the very least keep wearing a jersey with the wrong spelling of his name on it. Soccer player's name misspelled on jersey

Admittedly, Wondolowski can be a mouthful to say (a lot people just call him “Wondo”). But, jeez, you only have to spell it one letter at a time, equipment manager guy. Not like the jersey snafu was a bad thing for the Earthquakes striker; he had a hat trick before halftime in the USMNT’s Gold Cup opener vs. Belize. So, maybe the extra “W” should be here to stay. Chris Wondolowski Embraces Misspelled Name on Jersey, Scores Hat-Trick For U.S. Soccer Against Belize

Chris Wondolowski has trouble scoring goals the international level. Chris Wondowlowski doesn’t have that problem. On Monday, Wondolowski scored a first-half hat-trick for the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team in its 6-1 win over Belize. He filled up the nets while wearing a jersey that had his name misspelled on the back. The U.S. striker’s name was spelled: W-o-n-d-o-w-l-o...

Wondolowski finding his scoring touch

At length, Chris Wondolowski was all smiles. Gliding through the tunnel underneath JELD-WEN Field here, he beamed in a way he hadn't yet after a U.S. men's national team game. He'd spent the first half of the USA's 6-1 Gold Cup opening win over Belize on Tuesday in a jersey which had adorned his name with an extra W. As it turned out, it was a W for every goal that...

US men defeat Belize 6-1 in Gold Cup play

Maybe next time they'll spell Chris Wondolowski's name right. The striker scored a first-half hat trick in a 6-1 victory for the U.S. men's national team over Belize in the opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Tuesday night. Wondolowski, who plays for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes, sported an extra ''W'' on the back of his red and...

Sounders-Earthquakes Preview

While the Seattle Sounders haven't had much trouble scoring at home, that certainly hasn't been the case when they've gone on the road. The Sounders will try to end their two-game scoreless drought away from home Saturday night when they take on a San Jose Earthquakes team riding an eight-game home unbeaten streak. Seattle (7-6-3) has 13 goals during its four-game winning...
