Utah Jazz: Draft Grades
By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…
Pick 9: Trey Burke- PG- University of Michigan
- The Jazz did not have a point guard on the roster when the draft started and it was well known how badly they needed a franchise point guard and they drafted arguably the top one in the draft. Burke is the reigning National Player of the Year and led Michigan to the NCAA Finals and was excellent value at 9. Burke is a pure scorer and an excellent distributor and leader and has the fire and moxy to lead this franchise as their new floor general. He should start right away and could be their leading scorer as a rookie. They have an incredible young foundation and now have their point guard of the future. It cost them picks 14 and 21, but to land their franchise point guard, it is well worth it. Burke could be one of the best players in the draft and is a potential All Star player. Incredible move by the rebuilding Jazz.
Pick 27: Rudy Gobert- PF/C- France
