Florida Still In Pursuit of Scout300 Stars

The Florida Gators have eight early enrollees on hand for the spring semester including two junior college transfers. Most of them will be expected to make an early impact on a roster that has some questions heading into the fall. The early start can only help the newcomers and that includes under Armour All-American running back Kelvin Taylor who should see plenty of playing time as a freshman.

Gators win first SEC road game

No. 11 Florida and LSU fought through a sloppy first half before the Gators took a nine-point lead at halftime. After that, it was all Florida. Without senior guard Mike Rosario (sprained ankle) and Casey Prather spraining his ankle during the first half, the Gators took control of the second half. Kenny Boynton led Florida with 20 points while Will Yeguete added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Prather proves worthy of start

Casey Prather found out on Wednesday morning that he would be starting Florida’s Southeastern Conference opener. Fractured ribs for Erik Murphy and knee tendonitis for Will Yeguete pushed Prather into the starting lineup, and he saw it coming after Tuesday’s practice ended with both still hobbled. Prather scored the first six points of the game, sparking the Gators to take an 11-0 lead.
