Sox and Dawgs:
Ian Kinsler set the tone early with a leadoff home run off of John Lackey on his first pitch of the game. But it was errors by the Boston Red Sox that did them in as they fell to Texas Rangers 5-1 on Saturday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (TX).

ARLINGTON, Texas Derek Holland turned in one of the Rangers' best individual pitching performances on Friday, but it was actually a team effort.
Holland credited catcher A.J. Pierzynski, his defense and even the success of young starters like Justin Grimm and Nick Tepesch for his eight shutout innings against the Red Sox.
Holland gave up six hits and a walk in the 7-0 win...
Boston Red Sox left fielder Daniel Nava stopped in his tracks after completely losing a home run ball by Texas Rangers leadoff batter Ian Kinsler during Saturday's MLB game in Arlington.
Nava was so fooled that he was still looking for the ball after it had already landed in the stands.

The Red Sox have dropped the first two games in a three-game series with the Texas Rangers, and the Rangers have held the typically powerful Boston offense to just one run in two games.
The Rangers have had their way with the Sox thus far, but third baseman Will Middlebrooks is confident his team will be able to get back in their groove on Sunday and close out the series with a...
Andrew Bailey has stated all along that staying healthy for the entire season is his top priority. He’s now dealing with biceps soreness, though, and the reliever isn’t happy about the current situation.
Bailey’s injury was revealed following the Red Sox’ 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Joel Hanrahan pitched the ninth inning of that contest to earn the save, which...
Felix Doubront allowed six runs against the Rangers, and things could have been a lot worse. The lefty allowed 12 hits in his 3 2/3 innings of work on Friday night, but escaped trouble in the early innings before running into it during a big fourth inning for Texas.
After the game, he discussed a recent dip in his velocity, but didn’t seem all that concerned about it. He brushed...
Boston runners took to the streets on Saturday in the first big run since the 2013 Boston Marathon. The 4th Annual Run to Home Base 9K brought the city together once again and proved that its residents are, indeed, Boston Strong.
Thousands of people crossed the finish line of the race at Fenway Park in support of the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home...
After dominating the past few games, winning seven out of eight games, Friday night almost seemed inevitable. After all,
Every one of the Rangers starters reached base at least once, and they took over the game when they scored five runs in the fourth inning.
Here are the Four Bases:
First Base: Who cares if he is young. Felix Doubront has turned into a ticking time bomb. He has...
So far this season there hasn't been much of a laser show for the Boston Red Sox coming off the bat of their second baseman Dustin Pedroia. While Pedroia's power numbers are way down almost to the point of non-existence, he is still producing for the Sox just in other ways. Not unlike any other year Pedroia's defense is stellar and it's not like hes in any sort of...
The Red Sox were swept in a series for the first time this season by the Texas Rangers, halting the positive momentum the Sox had been building throughout April.
Starter Jon Lester pitched six innings in the loss, and despite his offense giving him a considerable cushion, was unable to stave off the Rangers as they tied things up in the sixth. Lester admitted after the game that...
12:30 p.m.: Will Middlebrooks has really been struggling, both in the field and at the plate. The Red Sox third baseman will be given the day off on Sunday.
Middlebrooks is 3-for-19 on Boston’s current road trip, which negates the strides he appeared to be making at the plate toward the tail end of the team’s recent homestand. Making matters worse is that Middlebrooks made an...
After being swept in Texas, the Boston Red Sox return home for a seven-game homestand. Tonight, they'll kick it off with the first of four games against the Minnesota Twins at historic Fenway Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESNPlus. If you live in the Twins television market, you can catch...

With a tough 3 games in Texas over the weekend, the Red Sox look to shake off being swept and move on to their series against the Minnesota Twins. There were a lot of questions coming into this series against the Texas Rangers. The Red Sox have been playing great to...
If you are like me, you are ecstatic about the Red Sox turnaround from last year to this year. But, if you're like me, you're wondering "When will something start to go wrong?" I'm 22 and I've been a fan since the young age of 6 (or 7, I can never remember which), well before 2004 and 2007, so 2011 was nothing new for me. Still, I'm keeping it in the...
