Leesburg, VA (February 28th, 2011) – Scott Rolin has accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity at Virginia Tech and will compete at wide receiver this upcoming 2011 season. This young athlete should also have the opportunity to make his mark on the coveted Hokies Special Teams according to Hokies Coach and Scout Torrian Gray. Scott will begin training camp and two-a-days with the team in August.

Rolin started his high school football career in Southlake, Texas playing for the powerhouse Carroll High School until his family was transferred and relocated to Northern Virginia.

In Virginia, Scott showed his versatility by playing wide receiver on offense and free safety on defense. Scott was the Virginia 2010 Defensive Player of the Year.   He had 80 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 34 receptions for 616 yards and 8 touchdowns, at Briar Woods High School his senior year alone; and the numbers do not speak as loudly as his highlight film does.

“After watching Scott’s highlight film, I knew right away this kid was special. He had the moves and composure that I felt deserved a look from the collegiate levels. I passed this on to several of our scouts and affiliates who all agreed that he had the ability to play major college football. The question this late in the game was where?” said Beyond Sports CEO and Founder Jimmy Kibble, “What perplexed me was that none of the coaches I was connected with knew about hi m or Briar Woods High School. Here was a dynamite player, having just won the Virginia 2A State Championship with his team, and he had no substantial leads.”

A personal friend of the Rolin family, Joseph Amato was very puzzled by the fact that it appeared that Scott did not already have an opportunity to ‘play at the next level’.  Amato asked the Rolin family if he could make some inquires on Scott’s behalf, a faithful act of a concerned friend that could change Scott Rolin’s life forever.

I was able to see Scott play all season working in the press box at the Briar Woods High School football games; I thought that Scott was a very skilled athlete with every intangible possible, we needed to find a college that would appreciate his talent.”

Excelling on and off the field, Scott has been given the opportunity to attend Virginia Tech and play major college football.  Scott has maintained a better than 3.0 GPA at Briar Woods giving the Virginia Tech coaching staff the proof they needed that this student athlete has kept his priorities in line.

Scott has grown up in a great family with strong values; and with the support of his Briar Woods team, coaches and friends, Scott’s determination and hard work have paid off for him BIGTIME.

“After winning the state championship I knew I wanted to continue playing football at the next level.  Thanks to the hard work of Mr. Amato and Mr. Kibble at BSN I received scholarship opportunities from a few schools but I dreamed of playing D-1 ball.  Virginia tech has given me that opportunity and I plan to make the most of it, both athletically and academically.”
