W. Water Polo. No. 9 Hoosiers Fall to No. 12 LMU, 7-5

Indiana fell in a tough one at home on Sunday afternoon as Illinois hit a field goal with under a second remaining to take the 61-60 win. The Hoosiers trailed by as many as eight points in the second half before the Illini scored the final five points of the game to top IU. Aulani Sinclair led the way for Indiana with 17 points as Sasha Chaplin scored 14 points and Jasmine McGhee added 11.

Indiana freshman forward Cody Zeller has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for a sixth time this season after helping the Hoosiers to their 19th win of the season last week.

A five-goal fourth quarter propelled the No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team (8-3) past No. 17 Maryland, 11-10, in the fifth place game at the Triton Invitational on Sunday. The Hoosiers trailed by two heading into the final stanza and rallied for their second straight win over a ranked team.

The No. 3 seed Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team was defeated by No. 2 seed Iowa by result of a combined margin of victory tiebreaker after the two teams were knotted at 3-3 in consolation play to round out the Big Ten Match Play Championship at The Concession GC.

The No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team (7-3) defeated No. 16 UC Santa Barbara for the second time in two weeks at the Triton Invitational to advance to the fifth place game against No. 17 Maryland at 3:10 p.m. PT.

Indiana Men's Tennis (6-2, ranked No. 25) heads to Norman, Okla., this weekend to take on No. 19 Oklahoma. The Hoosiers are looking for their first road win of the season and to avenge a 3-4 loss to the Sooners in 2011.

Indiana women's tennis made it seven wins in a row with two more victories on Saturday afternoon at the IU Tennis Center. The Hoosiers topped Miami (OH), 5-2, in the day's opening match. IU then topped Ball State, 7-0, to end the afternoon.

The No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team (6-2) used a four-goal flurry in the second period to separate from Santa Clara and never looked back, grabbing the 9-6 win to open play at the Triton Invitational. The Hoosiers will meet No. 12 Loyola Marymount at 5:50 p.m. PT.

The Indiana Hoosiers (1-0) opened the 2012 season with a 6-4 victory over the UIC Flames at the Hotel Encanto Invitational on the campus of New Mexico State University. Sophomore outfielder Jenna Abraham pace the IU attack with three hits - including a two-run home run - and scored two runs.

The Hoosiers will take on No. 12 seed Nebraska in the consolation bracket on Saturday morning.

The Indiana University wrestling team improved to 11-7 on the season with three straight wins on Sunday. Indiana headed south to defeat North Carolina State, VMI and Gardner-Webb by a combined score of 106-31.
