Dallas Cowboys And The NFL:
IRVING - Why?
Because his defense was, for the most part, outstanding last night in Philadelphia.
The Eagles came into the game averaging nearly 30 points, but the Cowboys held them to just 16 with one touchdown thanks to four sacks (two by Jay Ratliff), two interceptions and two stops (Bradie James, Marcus Spears) on third-and-one and fourth-and-one in the fourth quarter.
Phillips did a great job calling blitzes and also developing a game plan that called for coverage to roll to DeSean Jackson. CB Terence Newman, with some help from safeties Gerald Sensabaugh and Ken Hamlin, limited Jackson to two catches for only 29 yards with Donovan McNabb targeting him five times.
