From the bizarro file... The New York Times is reporting that after slugging a ball into the stands at Citi Field during batting practice on Friday, Pat Burrell went over to check on the fan it tagged. He signed a ball for the fan, and, get this... was applauded by the surrounding Mets fans. His charm, you see, is that irresistible.
Now hopefully he resumes being the Met killer we all came to love during his nine years in Philly. The Phils could definitely use the help right now. The NYT article goes on to show that Pat's numbers against the Mets last year and overall weren't what earned him the reputation as a Met killer—we all remember that it was the timeliness of those huge, backbreaking home runs. Ah, memories.
Pat Burrell, originally uploaded by Michael G. Baron.Oh, and speaking of Bizarro... Pat is rocking a goatee these days, as you can see.
