Recovering from a strained lat muscle, Washington Nationals hurler Stephen Strasburg threw a simulated contest this afternoon at Coors Field. The 24-year-old Strasburg (3-5, 2.54 ERA) reported no discomfort and will return from the disabled list on Sunday. Sitting seven games behind the scorching Braves (39-25) in the National League East, Washington (31-31) needs a healthy Strasburg to contend with Atlanta. Despite posting a losing record, Strasburg has dominated on the hill and is one of the primary reasons Washington can overtake the Braves. Finally competing without asinine restrictions, Strasburg had to be shelved by the Nationals in this instance. … Continue reading →

Aw, it's Ryan and Heather Zimmerman on the cover of the new issue of Washingtonian's "Bride & Groom" mag. Zim looks sharp in a tux. Wonder if the issue contains any of the Zim Honeymoon Safari photoshops Ross Detwiler decorated his locker with during Spring Training?

As the Washington Nationals dipped back below .500 yesterday, the team suddenly has a lot to look forward to. Despite their struggles so far this season, they will be getting help. Bryce Harper's injury should not keep him on the DL too much longer, and the pitching staff may be in tact completely for the first time in over a month. Stephen Strasburg is making progress...
GET WELL SOON
Bryce Harper is on the DL and not thrilled about missing time. He also reportedly had injections in his knee during a doctor's visit.
Henry Rodriguez was designated for assignment by the Nats last week after walking 16 batters over his first 18 innings. He contains a strong arm but has struggled with his command in the show while sporting a 4.23 career ERA and 1.48 career WHIP.
This lead to CSNChicago.com's Patrick Mooney reporting another Nationals pitching move.

Since he hit the scene last season, Washington Nationals wunderkind Bryce Harper has been immortalized in almost every way imaginable. He's been made into a Fathead, a lawn gnome and whatever the heck this is.
Now...there's this. And as you can imagine...the outfielder has never looked so good!
What...no eye black?
The lovely lass under that body paint...
Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was given a cortisone injection in his swollen left knee, and he will wear a brace to ensure he rests the joint.
Harper was given the shot after he visited noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews on Monday in Pensacola, Fla. Trainer Lee Kuntz said Tuesday Harper will stay off the knee for a week.

Nationals 7, Twins 0 (Game 1): Ho hum, just another dominating outing for Jordan Zimmermann, and the offense comes alive after Davey's team meeting.
When Stephen Strasburg appears on TV with a grimace on his face, it's big news. Also, when Stephen Strasburg appears on TV with a ****-eating grin on his face, it's big news.Well, not as big as a grimace, but there he was in the dugout Sunday night, looking simply joyful while chatting with Ross Detwiler during the 5th inning Monday night.
You'd be smiling, too, if...
The Washington Nationals’ Jayson Werth made headlines before the season, when he stated that the Philadelphia Phillies would be the Nationals’ biggest competition this season to win the National League East, not the Atlanta Braves. How does that crow taste, Jayson Werth? With nearly 40% of the season complete, it appears that Werth was correct about the Phillies being the Nationals’...
When Bryce Harper smashed into the wall at Dodger Stadium weeks ago, Nationals fans held their breath. They waited to see if he'd be all right, but those hopes were dashed when he landed on the DL. Things seemed even more bleak today when an airport photo shows Bryce Harper in a knee immobilizer!
But fans in Washington can sigh in relief as Bryce himself tweeted...
A high scoring duel left the Carolina Mudcats in defeat Wednesday night at Five County Stadium. After several rallies, victorious comeback hits, and slack errors, the Potomac Nationals ultimately won the game 13-11.
The Mudcats finished the game with 11 runs on 16 hits with two errors while the Nationals prevailed with 13 runs on 17 hits with two errors.
Right-handed pitcher Mason...
The Washington Nationals (31-32) were in a perfect situation to create some momentum on Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies (35-30).
They had just put together 24 hits and 12 runs in one day during a doubleheader sweep on Sunday, and they were taking that impressive offensive effort to a ballpark that is notoriously kind to hitters.
But as they have struggled...

Following the weekend series in Milwaukee, the Phillies continue their road trip with visits to Minneapolis and Colorado. The Phillies will then return home for a week-long homestand against the Nats and Mets. The Nationals have struggled enormously lately while injuries have continued to pile up as star ace Stephen Strasburg was sent to the DL with a strained muscle in his back...
